Beagles became a part of our family in 1985 when Larry and I got our first beagle, Barney, as a wedding present to ourselves.  We had both had dogs all of our lives and couldn't imagine starting our new family without one.  We were attracted to their size, their short coat, those eyes that can melt your heart and their happy, playful temperament.

Barney was our first child and two years later, when our daughter, Marie, was born, he welcomed the new member of our pack and patiently took the abuse as Marie grew to be a toddler.  In 1990, our daughter, Amanda, was born and neither of the girls has known a home without a beagle.

Our first show beagle joined our family in 1997.  I had grown up with horses and had been very active in 4-H and FFA, showing and judging horses and livestock.  I later graduated with a degree in Agriculture from Washington State University, where I was a member of the livestock judging team.  As our daughters grew and got involved in their own activities, show beagles were a way for me to get back into the show ring, doing what I love to do.

Talbot Hill Beagles began in January 2002 with the arrival of our first litter, a litter of five red & white girls.  The first puppy born in this litter became our first homebred champion and our foundation bitch, CH. Talbot Hill's Overture, "Rosie".  Our kennel name comes from the Talbot Hill area of Renton, WA where Larry's real estate office is located.

In 2003, we moved to our current home just outside of Covington, WA.  Situated on 1.2 acres at the end of a dead end road, the dogs enjoy the run of the property, full of giant evergreens.  Our 25' x 40' kennel building is heated and features a grooming area and indoor training ring.  Larry and I work at home so the dogs get plenty of love and attention throughout the day.  Our litters are born in the atrium in the center of our home and the puppies spend the first few weeks of their lives surrounded by the sights and sounds of home.

Beagles have brought so much to our lives.  We've shown our dogs  throughout the US and we have attended the Crufts Dog Show in England and the Very Special Show in Denmark.  We've met many wonderful people through our involvement in beagles, throughout the US and around the world.  We are most grateful to our mentors and dear friends, David and Lesley Hiltz (Starbuck Torbay Beagles) for their support and guidance.
